Diving into the world of self-promotion, especially in the vibrant sea of Bookstagram and social media, can be as daunting as it is exhilarating. Picture this: you're a writer, excited about your debut novel, ready to share it with the world. But as soon as you start exploring the vast ocean of writers, indie and traditional publishers, fanatical readers, and scholarly types (whose academic prowess I admire from a distance), you feel like a pebble in an endless, ever-shifting landscape.

Imposter syndrome is real, my friends. Even with years of experience as a content creator and marketer, navigating the waters of self-promotion for my own work often feels like trying to swim upstream. Itās not that Iām shy about creating a business and putting it out into the worldāIāve done that countless times. But when it comes to marketing myself, itās a different story. Suddenly, Iām overwhelmed by the pressure of algorithms, engagement strategies, and the never-ending quest to keep up appearances.
Itās a bit like pulling back the curtain and realizing that social media, in all its curated glory, can sometimes feel a little... fake. The glossy profiles, the perfectly staged photos, the endless metricsāsometimes it feels like youāre running on a hamster wheel, trying to match the expectations of a digital world thatās constantly shifting.
But hereās the thing: over the past two years, Iāve embraced authenticity. And while it might not always align with the latest trends or the most effective engagement strategies, itās been a journey worth taking. Authenticity is my guiding star. If something doesnāt feel right, if it doesnāt resonate with who I am, itās not for me.
Embrace authenticity, celebrate the real over the ideal, and navigate the waters of self-promotion with honesty and heart.
Thank you for being part of this adventure with me. If youāre curious about my progress, my thoughts, or just want to connect, donāt hesitate to follow along on Facebook and Instagram, or sign up for my newsletter. Authenticity is a two-way street, and Iām excited to share this path with you.
