Hello
Welcome to my corner of the literary world! I’m Megan A. Rockwell… and when the stories get a little spicier, Calla Tate. Around here, you’ll find everything from immersive, high-stakes fiction to humor laced, addictive romance—always led by strong female characters and a deep dive into what makes us human.
My Story
Storytelling has always been the constant.
Long before pen names or published books, there were notebooks—pages filled with characters, tension, and questions about how far people can be pushed before they break… or become something else entirely.
That curiosity never left.
With a background in Communication Studies and Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, the focus has always been the same: how people connect, how they cope, and what drives them beneath the surface. That thread carries through everything—whether it’s the high-stakes, psychologically driven worlds of dystopian fiction or the raw, complicated relationships found in dark romance.
Before stepping fully into writing, nearly two decades were spent in marketing and advertising—building brands, crafting stories, and learning how to reach people in a way that actually resonates. That experience now lives here, in the stories, the worlds, and the way they’re shared.
Life outside the page has never been quiet. From renovating a 100+ year old home to stepping on stage for bodybuilding competitions, to restoring vintage furniture pieces that carry their own history—there’s always been a pull toward transformation. Taking something with potential and shaping it into something intentional.
At the center of it all are my two boys, Ezra and Axel—the grounding force, the reason, and the greatest accomplishment in this life.
Everything created here—across both Megan A. Rockwell and Calla Tate—is built on the same foundation: honest emotion, layered characters, and stories that stay with you longer than you expected.
Who is Calla Tate?
Calla Tate is the pen name for my dark romance work.
Originally created during the early stages of writing A Wing to Break (Ruin’s End Vol. One), the name was a quiet nod to anonymity—a playful twist on the Spanish phrase for “shut up,” born from the idea that some stories feel a little louder and riskier at first. That layer of distance gave space to explore morally gray characters, complicated desire, raunchy humor, and relationships that don’t follow the rules.
That anonymity isn’t as necessary anymore—but the name stuck. And over time, it became something more: a brand, a tone, and a space that feels entirely its own.
Now, Calla Tate serves as a way to write freely within dark romance while also creating a clear lane for readers who come looking for that specific edge. While Megan A. Rockwell builds expansive worlds shaped by power, control, and survival, Calla Tate leans into intimacy—the tension between people, the choices they make, and the consequences that follow.
At the end of the day, though, it’s still one storyteller behind it all. Which means some spaces merge, some lines blur, and both names live here together.
Two identities. One dangerous imagination.
