Am I Giving Up Dystopian to Write Dark Romance?

Absolutely not. Not now, not ever, and not while The Sanctioned Series is just being birthed into this world.
Let’s get one thing clear—Without Light was just the beginning. I’m knee-deep (okay, thigh-deep) in the first draft of Book Two, and let me tell you—it’s deliciously dark, layered with even more twists, and expanding the world in ways I cannot wait for you to see. The dystopian dream (nightmare?) is very much alive.

But here's the twist (because I love one): I write like I read—based entirely on mood. If you’ve ever finished a soul-wrecking dystopian and immediately dove into a spicy, laugh-out-loud dark rom-com to recover… yeah. Same energy.
The inspiration hit. The characters wouldn’t shut up. And Ruined for Her was born—my dark romantic comedy baby full of sass, spice, and morally gray vibes. This book came clawing out of me like it had somewhere to be. And spoiler: it did. Right into your hands, hopefully, later this year.
If you’ve noticed my website or socials looking a little… genre-fluid lately, that’s why. We’re embracing both flavors—dystopian and dark romance—because honestly? Why shouldn’t a girl have range?
Don’t worry, though: Without Light is still the main event. Pre-orders, launch events, the glow-in-the-dark sprayed edges of your dreams—you name it, I’m on it. But behind the scenes? There’s more brewing. More passion projects. More late-night writing sprints. More “Wait, you wrote that too?” moments to come.
Here’s the thing— I thought I’d publish one book this year. Turns out, I had two in me.
Ruined for Her is spicy. Like, “make sure your Kindle isn’t in public view” spicy. It’s miles away from the grit and tension of Without Light, but that’s the beauty of storytelling—you get to explore it all.
So to my dystopian ride-or-dies: I’m not leaving you.
To my new dark romance readers: Welcome to the chaos. I’ve got so much coming your way.
And to my supportive friends and family: If you read Ruined for Her, just… don’t say I didn’t warn you. Some of you will clutch your pearls so hard they’ll crack.
But hey, there’s a massive audience out there who loves morally gray men, high-stakes romance, and women who set the world (and bedsheets) on fire. And I’m writing for them, too.
Two genres. One unhinged author brain. Buckle up.
